When you look up the actual definition of a side piece the first thing that comes up in bold at the top of the page says “a mistress; a woman with whom a man carries on a physical affair (not emotional affair) without having the intention of forming a serious relationship.” Can you guess where the problem is? Women can do anything and anyBODY that a man can do. And a male can just as easily be a side piece as well. So in today’s episode we are going to talk all about no strings attached, no bullsh!t, no expectations, side pieces. And if you’ve ever had one or been one, you know that whole no bs part isn’t always how it turns out. In today's episode we tell a few stories from side pieces and those who ended up being the side piece without even knowing it! Then we go over a few of the rules on the "official list" for side chicks and before giving some new music recommendations on Jo Jam we share a few stories where side pieces ended up actually getting married to the person they were seeing! You will definitely want to listen to find out how those turned out! Last in Dish Bish we get extra spicy with some personal questions!
Today we are going to be talking about the ways in which women tend to downplay themselves, minimize things and just generally take a back seat to make men around them feel more comfortable. Now, we are all for treating men well and even making them comfortable. Where this becomes an issue for a lot of women is when the comfort and needs of men are prioritized over their own comfort and needs. This can lead to a lack of sense of self, resentments and lots of stress for women. We look at some examples of ways that this can show up in daily life and talk about areas that we have struggled with. Then we throw out music recommendations in Jo Jam and get a little (way) too personal answering some questions in our Dish Bish Segment at the end!
No matter how long you’ve been with someone, or what circumstances may have caused you to go your separate ways, breakups are hard. Even if you know it's the right decision, just the feeling of all the time, energy, and intimacy you’ve spent on someone else has just been a waste. And while we know everyone deals with things differently, we’ll do our best today to help you try and get over your breakup.
This episode is all about new relationships and talking stages. We use evidence based communication  insights to break some things down and help you get some clarity to what can often be grey area. Are you oversharing? What types of topics should you bring up early on? How do you know if they are interested or like you based on their communication?
Have you ever been seeing someone, things are going great, you have so much in common and you get along really well. Then you’re talking with a friend and they say ask “so are you guys official?” And you go to this person you’re seeing and find out they “like keeping it casual” or “dont like labels” But here’s the thing. You might not be in a relationship but you are for sure in a situationship. These can be stressful and confusing for everyone. But they can also be fun. It’s all about communicating well. And the key to navigating your situationship is knowing the different kinds and finding out which kind you’re in. And we are here today to help! There are a ton of different types but today we’re going to go over some of the most common ones and talk about if we’ve ever been in any of these types. After talking about all the different types there are we give a few music recommendations and last in Dish Bish we answer some fun random questions!
On this episode, Melissa Duge Spiers joins us. We are going to be talking about her upcoming (and award-winning) memoir, The Glory Whole, her experience visiting a legal brothel and writing about it in a viral Huffington Post article. Melissa also talks with us about leaving the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church, non-monogamy, purity culture and sexual empowerment. Then we let you know what music we are listening to and wrap things up with some spicier and more personal questions in our Dish Bish segment at the end.
