Who is Corey Layne?

So who is Corey Layne? Well, according to his Spotify bio, “Corey Layne is an East Tennessee born, grass roots, soulful country singer/songwriter. His music is heartfelt and written from a place of personal experiences and emotions. He has a story to tell…all you have to do is listen to the words in his music.” But we know you want a little more than that…
Currently signed to Empire Artist Agency, Layne has been singing since he was two years old. Layne’s father, a pastor and gospel singer, taught him how to sing when he was little and has been a huge inspiration to his life and music.
Layne’s Creative Process
When explaining his creative process, Layne asks “Have you ever seen a kid, when they have a bowl of spaghetti in front of them and they don’t know how to use a fork? That’s kind of how I write.” Layne continues, “It’s messy, but it works.” While his creative process may be unconventional, I find that often the most brilliant creators do things differently.
What is Corey Layne Like?
Music is his greatest passion and this is so evident in talking to him. He has a vast knowledge of the industry and a spirit that shines through when he sings or speaks about music. When asked what he wanted to be when he was a kid, his vision has always been clear and unwavering – a singer. Layne has battled hardships that have both strengthened him and given him a heart for others who are struggling or have experienced great loss. He believes in the power of prayer and values time with family. He is personable, open and down to earth.
In addition to singing and writing original music. Layne also plays guitar and drums. He loves playing live at just about any venue and has played all over the country. One of his favorite spots to play in Nashville is “The Local,” a bar and original music venue. When he’s not performing original music, one of his favorite songs to play is “Husbands and Wives,” originally written by Roger Miller and covered by artists like Brooks and Dunn.
Collaborations
When asked what artist he would want to collaborate with, Layne says he would love to work with Blanco Brown, who is best known for his hit song “The Git Up.” Brown is a friend of Layne’s and an artist Layne describes as a complete musical and artistic genius.
CJ Temple is an artist Layne has recently collaborated with. After posting a duet video on social media, many have asked Layne about his work with Temple, an artist he met on TikTok (@CayTemps) and ended up writing a song with. While the song is finished, it has not been recorded or released at the time of this article. Since Temple’s recent rise to TikTok fame, she has been busy with acting and other projects, so Layne is not sure if they will record the song together or not. Stay tuned though because he does anticipate releasing the song at some point.
