If you’ve ever gotten lost on “conspiracy TikTok,” you have probably heard of at least one of these. If you don’t know what conspiracy TikTok is… you probably don’t spend a lot of time on the app. And that’s OK, because we are breaking down some of the most Toked about conspiracy theories.
1. #FreeBritney
Ok, the #FreeBritney Movement is all about Britney Spears needing help. She is currently under the conservatorship of her father and it is rumored that she is being kept over-medicated, trapped and even sex-trafficked. She has not seemed okay in several videos and some of her social posts have fans feeling like she is confirming their concerns.
For instance fans asked her to wear yellow in her next post if she needed help and next thing she posted…. a strange video where she is walking in and out of the camera shot in a yellow top.
She went live on IG, talking about how she has worn the “same top 17 times, but it’s for a project… project rose.” But Project Rose is an actual program for human trafficking victims. Rose stands for “Reaching Out on Sexual Exploitation” and fans are saying this is her way of trying to let fans know that she is in trouble.
Spears posted a strange video where she is answering that her fans are asking her most lately, but they are questions that no one was asking her. She says that her favorite Disney movie is Frozen and then that she goes to sleep between 11:30-12. That time (11:30:12) in the movie frozen is a scene of Elsa saying “You have to tell them to let me go!” This might ordinarily seem like a stretch, but when so many of her fans are worried about her and asking her for clues… it does seem a little concerning.
When Britney first came out she was sexualized as a school girl and one theory says that she was a part of a prostitution/sex trafficking ring that involved Jeffrey Epstein. There is also suspicion that her infamous 2007 breakdown was also tied to this.
Britney has gone to court to try to get her father removed as conservator and her attorney has spoken out opposing her fathers motion and saying that concerns from fans are legitimate.
2. Bill Gates & Event 201
Event 201 was a global pandemic exercise that took place in October of 2019. This event was hosted by The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in partnership with the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. During Event 201 people came together to basically enact how to respond to a virus with global impact – like a fire drill, but pandemic.
So people are saying that Bill Gates had something to do with Covid-19 or that this group as a whole was a part of planning and staging the pandemic.
But here’s my thing with this one… Bill Gates has been active in healthcare and medical research and talking about these types of things for years… Also it is not off base for a health system to run drills or exercises around these types of scenarios… We believe this conspiracy theory doesn’t have much of a leg to really stand on.
3. Celebrity Clones
Ok to be honest these are some of my favorites. Are they wild? Yeah. But a lot of people are convinced these theories are legit and I mean if nothing else, they are entertaining.
One theory claims that Katy Perry is actually Jonbenet Ramsey (the young girl that was murdered in 1996). Except I’m pretty sure we debunked this one on our Conspiracy Theory podcast episode, when we noted that Katy Perry was born in 1984… around 12 years before Jonbenet Ramsey was killed. Some say she is a clone of the child, but we still think this one is pretty far fetched.
Avril Lavigne was replaced by a clone named Melissa in 2003. Obvs. She looks way different now. Must be true.
Taylor Swift was not cloned… she is the clone. Apparently there was some satanic priest lady who looked a lot like T. Swift so the internet did its thang.
